Video recording product processing cylinders

There are numerous possibilities for monitoring, controlling or recording a process, semi-finished or finished product just before it is packaged or processed. The easiest way is to do this with, for example, a standard CCTV set, but when the speed is high, the product to be recorded is small and details must be visible or if the recording may only be as long as the product is actually present, then it becomes a different story.
High-speed video recording
Description case

For example, a manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders wanted to have video recordings of the manufacturing process of their products. The critical process they wanted to record was in time about 10 seconds however the pause time between two products was about 60 seconds. And so they did not want continuous recording in time but only when a product was actually present in front of the camera.

For this, Vision Partners selected a camera that could record this manufacturing process with sufficient resolution including recording software that could be triggered via an external input signal to start recording.

High-speed or low frame rate?

The number of frames per second at which the video is recorded is adjustable so that this camera setup can also easily be used for other applications if high-speed recordings have to be made in order to be able to watch back a process in slow motion, or if, on the other hand, a low frame rate is required in order to record for longer periods without the memory immediately becoming full.

Because the camera also had to be protected for the environment where it could be set up with water and oil, we also placed an IP65 housing around the selected Ethernet camera. By supplying this including a flexible arm, it can easily be used in other positions as well, for example to search for disturbances elsewhere in the production line.

We thought that shooting a short video of 1 cylinder per the 60 seconds wouldn't be possible but Vision Partners was able to help us out right away with the right hardware and software
