In order to prevent extra handling of the product, they wanted the product not to have to be picked up or twisted any further. Vision Partners decided to install a line scan camera under the conveyor belt. At some point during production, the packaging is transferred from one conveyor belt to the other with a small gap of a few centimeters between the two.
This gap of a few centimeters is sufficient for a line scan camera to make a full image of the underside of the product as it passes over it. In this process, the line scan camera pastes X number of image lines one after another so that a full image of the product is still created.
There is also a sticker with a barcode on the side of the package.
For this purpose, Vision Partners placed an Area scan camera next to the conveyor belt which checks whether this sticker with a readable barcode is indeed present.
If this is not the case then the operator gets an alarm and stops the line so he/she can take this faulty package off the line.
Because the production rate is low, the operator can also visually view images of the bottom of the bags even after he has briefly done other work.
This is because there is vision processor software provided on the installed machine on which all photos of the bottom and side of the package can be viewed back in the log-file as shown above.
As soon as the production speed is increased, surface control will be automated by adding machine vision software. The hardware has already been prepared by the customer, but the implementation of this automatic surface control functionality will be done later. This also belongs to our possibilities where a project is rolled out in phases in execution and budget.
