Description case

Collaboration between three specialty firms.

In cooperation with Van Wees Waalwijk and Helvoet Rubber & Plastic Technologies, Vision Partners contributed to the development of a state-of-the-art assembly line for medical components.

Helvoet is a global manufacturer and development partner of high-precision products and assemblies manufactured by rubber and plastic injection molding. Van Wees Waalwijk develops high-tech specialty machines to automate complex production processes.

Vision Partners supplied the Machine Vision system, connecting 6 different image acquisition units via Ethernet. Each image acquisition unit consists of an industrial camera, specific LED lighting concept and a lens. The images from each camera are processed by the Machine Vision processor. A unique machine vision program was developed, tested and released for each camera.

The upstream PLC triggers the image capture of a specific camera, then communicates the result to the upstream system. The machine vision processor is an industrial Intel/Windows machine that runs Vision Partners' machine vision application.

Advantages of this approach are:

  • Logging (result and image) of each camera available
  • Wide selection of cameras, lighting and lenses possible
  • Provision of communication via Profinet

"As required by the medical industry, comprehensive machine vision camera logging has allowed us to use data to demonstrate and optimize the functionality of each inspection."
