The provided vision system inspects the towels over the entire length and width for stains, holes, tears and/or twists that could interfere with the roll-up process. If the tolerances for the various checks are exceeded, the towel roll is immediately sent for over-washing or repair. Rejection can be carried out on large, intense stains or holes, but also on the basis of an average over the entire length of the roll, whereby the tolerances can also be adjusted during production depending on the product and/or customer type.
For monitoring a total of 33 conveyors, 18 industrial cameras were finally applied divided into 3 industrial Vision PCs for a cost efficient setup.
This immediately increased the quality of the towel rolls supplied, minimizing recalls and also reducing the burden on employees.
