A commonly used test method is to measure the absorbency of the paper by applying ink. The ink is absorbed by the paper depending on the silicone layer. In this method, the operator must visually assess and classify the test paper. This visual classification process has been found to be very person dependent and error prone.
With the application of Machine Vision camera technology, the quality and consistency of the silicone layer can be quickly and accurately measured. Areas that absorb more ink indicate less or no silicone, while areas where little or no ink is absorbed indicate an adequate presence of silicone.
The operator slides the test paper into the desktop inspection setup after which instant measurement and classification takes place.
Thanks to the intensive cooperation with Vision Partners, we have secured a crucial step in our production process with a robust quality measurement."
