Last month the seal seam airtightness inspection system was put into operation at a large "Tapas" supplier of Albert Heijn and Lidl, among others. Using an industrial thermal imaging camera, each package is checked for thermal abnormalities, i.e. possible reduced airtightness.
Robotization of the packing line means that traditional tasks of the packer such as label checking and packing airtightness must be taken over by in-line camera inspection systems to ensure quality.
